At the age of 3, Kim Alexander Livengood, APR, CPRC published her own magazine. While The Alexander Times only had a circulation of 2, it set the foundation for her career. Kim attended the University of Florida and received a degree in magazine journalism.
When Vogue didn't think she was ready to be their editor at 21, she launched her own monthly publication. Eclipse magazine became the go-to for what to do and where to go in the Sarasota, Florida area. It always featured a fashion shoot that was New York worthy. As creator, editor, publisher, and everything else in between, Kim gained invaluable experience. After 8 successful years, a competitor made Kim an offer she couldn't refuse and the publication was sold.
This gave Kim time to spend with her 9-month adopted daughter, Willow. But after a year, she became restless and opened up a boutique selling fashion-forward women's clothing. She successfully developed the concept and was the key decision maker in buying, merchandising, advertising, management, promotions, and marketing. Before selling Willow506 Boutique, she hosted fashion shows, events and developed an eCommerce website. While Kim has no regrets selling the business, she does miss paying wholesale for her clothing!
Next up for this non stoppable entrepreneur was the opening of a boutique hotel in the heart of downtown with her husband, Robert Livengood. They created an atmosphere that was funky, yet comfortable with numerous returning guests. They developed an engaging website with online booking capabilities, built strong relationships within the community including area businesses, tourism organizations and other hotels. It was consistently ranked in the top 3 Sarasota hotels on Trip Advisor. In fact, before they sold the hotel, it was featured in the New York Times as one of the best places to stay in Sarasota.
Before deciding to open The Eclipse Agency, Kim spent five years handling PR, events and marketing for Tervis. During her time there, the company grew from a local manufacturing company into a national brand with more than 8,000 retail partners and 35 company stores. Due to Kim's efforts, the company was featured on ABC World News with Diane Sawyer, Woman's World, People magazine, Business Insider, and Cooking Light, just to name a few of her placements. She created proprietary events, grand openings and achieved millions of consumer impressions through repeated product placement opportunities on major networks including Grey's Anatomy, Last Man Standing and General Hospital. The lessons learned at Tervis gave her the drive to open her own agency and the experience to work with a variety of clients.
Kim is an active and proud member of the Florida Public Relations Association.
